LCSW, TCTSY-F
Melanie believes in the power of yoga to heal and calm the body. She began her yoga journey in 2019 while trying to improve her own midlife health challenges. Melanie experienced yoga as a way to gently learn to listen to the body with compassion and felt yoga gave her the ability to make informed choices to support overall well-being.
However, many of Melanie's clients seeking help with their mental health felt discouraged when traditional yoga spaces didn’t meet them where they were. Oftentimes her client's racing thoughts, discomfort, or feeling like they were “doing it wrong” often kept them from returning.
In 2024, Melanie completed a 300-hour certification in Trauma Centered Trauma Sensitive Yoga through the Justice Resource Institute to better support her therapy clients. This training deepened her commitment to offering choice, cultivating body awareness, and creating a space where students feel safe and supported. She learned how to integrate mindful approaches, choices and interoception as a part of her teaching philosophy.
Melanie believes that one of the most important parts of mental health is being able to make choices by listening to the body. Her practices are centered on curiosity and compassion toward self.
